About

Claudia Wilde is a photographic artist and mother of three born in Austria and currently residing and working on Gubbi Gubbi/ Kabi Kabi Country on the East Coast of Australia. Her work unfolds primarily in yet is not limited to the domestic space. Informed by years working across gastronomy, hospitals, aged- and palliative care environments, her work draws from sustained encounters with care, vulnerability, and mortality. Human stories, held in both words and images, have shaped her from an early age and continue to inform the way she observes, sees and translates lived experience into her artistic practice. In recent years, the contemporary maternal experience, particularly postpartum care, has become central to her work following the births of her second and third children. Her practice engages with the layered complexities of belonging, familial bonds, trauma, identity, and mortality. Claudia’s work has appeared in Vogue Germany, PhotoVogue and Memory Cult Magazine, and she has been listed among Australia’s Top Emerging Photographers.
